The City of Toronto has 10 community centres that are managed, operated and maintained by volunteer Boards of Management, which are collectively referred to as the Association of Community Centres (AOCCs). These community centres are multi-purpose facilities that provide public space, programs and services to meet the recreation and social needs of local communities. The core administrative activities of the community centres are funded by the City while the program component is funded through fees, donations and grants. Eastview operates out of a facility owned and funded by the City of Toronto. This invaluable contribution covers the cost of our building, it’s maintenance and administration which allows 100% of the funds that we raise to go directly to programming. Frank McKechnie Community Centre has been named in honour of the former Councillor of Ward 5, one of Canada’s longest-serving municipal politicians who served as an elected official for 39 years. Starting December 25, 2021, the main pool, play pool and hydro massage pools will be closed for repairs. The anticipated reopening is January 3, 2022. [read more]

George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre (GCNC) is a 7,000 square foot facility devoted to community use in the Junction/Pelham Park neighbourhood of Toronto’s West End. GCCC is owned by The City of Toronto and will be operated by CONC. GCCC is located at 50 Sousa Mendes Street in the Junction Triangle. We were proud to open in May of 2019. George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre is here to provide exceptional programming and build community-based resources in collaboration with you- local residents and collectives, other nonprofits, self-employed people and more…with a special interest in supporting LGBTQ2SI+ initiatives in Toronto’s West End. Our centre provides a space where children and youth can grow up stimulated, valued for their unique strengths, and exposed to endless possibilities.
