Our hockey programs are for players and goalies of all ages from Novice to Pro, where we provide expert instruction in core Puck Handling skills, Small area skills, agility, and reaction skills that are needed to have optimal success. The majority of young goaltenders don’t get nearly enough goaltending specific skating during their team practices. Practicing the movements properly and sometimes without pucks help the goaltenders train through repetition and develop muscle memory in order to improve upon their current abilities and create strength, confidence and consistency in their play. Birchmount Gymnastics Centre was founded in July, 2002 and opened to the public in September of 2002. While the gym's incubation period may seem short, it actually stems from over a decade of experience in the gymnastics field by Linda Clifford and Ed McCready. Linda and Ed have created what they feel is a unique approach to the sport of gymnastics. The focus is on building upon the self-esteem of every athlete, and ensuring that athletes have fun through fitness. If a child has the spirit and will to excel at the sport, Birchmount's coaching team is there to teach the skills, flexibility and conditioning required for success in gymnastics training. Self-esteem, confidence, and a passion to do one's best are all qualities that will be encouraged at Birchmount. Linda Clifford has a Masters of Education and holds her NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) Level 2 Men's & Women's Gymnastics. She has over 25 years experience coaching Parent & Tot, Pre-school, Recreational, and Competitive gymnastics, as well as 30 years experience working for the provincial government as a communications and policy director, and vice president responsible for leadership and executive training. She is currently the President of Gymnastics Ontario, the provincial association responsible for 190 clubs and 100,000 athletes across the province. Ed McCready is owner and president of Gymgear Gymnastics Supplies, which supports gymnastics clubs and athletes across Canada. Previously, Ed was Marketing Director of the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) for 14 years. He has been heavily involved in amateur volleyball for 20 years, and has sponsored tournaments for teen athletes. [read more]

Cole's World

About Cole’s World Cole’s World came about when Cole Hernandez was diagnosed with Leukemia in January 2019, at the age of 8. We noticed while he was hospitalized for 7 months straight that most kids were not as fortunate as Cole to have access to their favourite things – including iPads, personal bedding, toys, games, and a bedroom that was fully decorated to keep the positive momentum. Most of the parents had to make sacrifices and changes – which included leaving jobs and resulting in single-family incomes to ensure that support could be granted 24/7 for their sick children in the hospital. This is of course even more challenging for single parents or parents from other countries. In seeing all this in action, we – together with Cole – noticed that more could be done here and began talking about Cole’s World – an idea to help other kids and families. This charity would provide kids with a room away from home. They would get a full bedding set of their choice, a laptop or iPad, toys, video games, books, puzzles, a customized stuffed animal with their name on it and much more. The intent is to provide a completely decorated and personalized room – one that would take their minds off the painful and uncomfortable chemotherapy treatments and the side effects. We know firsthand and saw noticeable changes in Cole when we were able to provide him the extra special support. Two weeks before his passing we discussed Cole’s World and he wanted us to continue with this charity in his name. He wanted to help other kids. That is why it is important that we use Cole’s World as the name. [read more]
