Chef Simon started his cooking career in England and later started travelling, exploring and learning and cooking his way through Spain and France. He eventually made his way to Canada, in 1995 where he cooked in Toronto and Whitby, opening his first restaurant in 1997.
Bistro 238 was born in 2005 and continues to grow and evolve with each year with our artisan market, tastings and monthly events.
Fantastic hidden gem of a restaurant in Courtice. Food was amazing...please try the Scotch Eggs!!! Service great and atmosphere in the restaurant was just right. Will definitely go again and recommend anyone to check it out.
Just placed an order at bistro238 of my favourites from this past Saturday brunch! This place truly is a hidden gem in Courtice! It was our first time for brunch and everything was delicious! Their quiche, their scones, their croissants, and this olive lemon cake - you know there’s a true pastry chef in the building when! The atmosphere is so cozy and they are beyond welcoming and nice. Chef Simon made the table since we were a walk in. He looks exactly like his picture btw. Highly recommend a reservation on weekends they get very busy. Everything was fresh tasting. Simple ingredients and the best quality. I can’t wait to try their dinner menu! I’m a foodie and so happy that my trips to Toronto for a good quiche and croissant fix are over. I have my spot in my hood now!
I always love coming to this place for lunch, treats and takeout. The food is amazing and the people are so lovely! Chef Simon is the best around, and Mary who took care of us is so lovely!!! If i could put more than 5 stars I would!!!
Delicious food and a charming atmosphere at this great spot! Very accommodating for allergies and adjustments per preference. Would absolutely come back!
Hands down the best cuisine in Courtice if not the Durham Region. Chef Simon and his staff are incredible. Perfect mix of upscale finely crafted food with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Great Fish n’ Chips tonight on the patio!!! This bistro is quite an amazing lil’ place and offers a wonderful menu. Chef Simon is a legend in the kitchen and you can taste the love in every dish. We are extremely lucky to have a place like this here.
