The Basilico is a family-run restaurant that brings together the rich culinary traditions of Italy and South Asia. Established in March 2024 by five friends with deep roots in the restaurant industry, The Basilico was born from a shared passion for high-quality, flavorful food and a desire to create a welcoming dining experience for the community.
Decided to try out Basilico with a friend last night. The atmosphere is amazing, the music and decor are so elegant. The food was also delicious. We will be going back to try other dishes but the Butter Chicken has my nod of approval so far!
John has to be the best restaurant owner I’ve ever experienced! Today we went for dinner and he was at the door holding it open for us ready to give us a wonderful experience! We had espresso martinis (best I’ve ever had) and bruschetta to share. For mains we had steak (it was made perfectly blue with crispy grill marks) yum! And my boyfriend had the carbonara which I tried a bite and it was so creamy and delicious and perfectly al dente. His mom had the spinach goat cheese pene. Which I didn’t get a bit of but it looked absolutely mouth watering and I was told it was delicious! They also started us with some complimentary warm fresh foccia bread. Besides the delicious food, the service provided by both John and his staff (I didn’t catch her name) was above an beyond, we had a loss in the family and they could tell and offered to put our flowers on the fridge and gave us a hug and a special treat at the end. They also made sure to check in on us and had wonderful convos with them both! Please go here and try it out for yourself! Your supporting a good Canadian / bowmanville business with the added bonus of actual good food and 11/10 service! We will 100% be back in the future (ps I heard there will be a new fun summer drink menu coming soon just in time to enjoy their spacious patio)
1st time at Basilico and it won't be the last. Food was excellent, presentation top notch. The drink menu is unlike any other restaurant and the garnished for the drink very unique. I had the Cajun penne with chicken and shrimp. There was enough to take home for lunch the next day. The drink I cannot remember the name but it was made with vodka, tangerine, honey syrup, thyme and was delicious. Not sweet at all and the thyme flavor very mild but unique. Our waitress found out it was our birthday month for the 3 of us and brought us sticky Toffee cake on the house. I highly recommend this restaurant.
