Built in 1861, each wall of the Ashburn Community Centre is constructed in a different style using stones of various sizes. After operating as Ashburn School for 105 years, the building was closed in 1966 and sold to the Township of Whitby for $2. In 1967, the school was transformed into the present-day community centre and a kitchen was installed on its west side. The centre was designated an heritage building in 1983.
